Greetings Community Partners:

As you may know the NAACP is the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the nation and remains at the forefront of advancing civil rights for all Americans. Under this great organization is the NAACP Youth Council. The purpose of the San Antonio National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Youth Council is to inform youth of problems affecting African Americans and other minority groups; encourage youth to participate in endeavors that advance the educational, economic, social, and political status of disenfranchised groups; engage the youth in activities that develop leadership skills; and award scholarships to eligible seniors. Within our chapter, we promote education, volunteerism and community service.

Every year for Fiesta the Youth Council host its annual Youth Image Awards Banquet. In addition to crowning Mr. and Miss NAACP the banquet includes the honoring of selective youth from our community. If you know someone that should be considered for the Youth Image Award we ask that you complete the attached form to nominate that person. The youth cannot be a member of the NAACP Youth Council but must be involved in the community and possess a GPA of “C” or better.  Please nominate at least two youth from your organization to receive this award.  This information will need to be received no later than March 1, 2017 for the nominee to be considered for the award.

Each nominee will receive one ticket for the 19th Annual Youth Image Awards Banquet to be held on April 7, 2018 at the Airport Hilton at 11:30 AM. Ticket donation for the event is $40. Ads for the souvenir journal can be purchased to support the organization and the nominees in addition to monetary sponsorship.

The Youth Council thanks you in advance for your kind attention and consideration of our request.
